“As a lifelong resident of St. Leonard, Maryland, I believe the greatest change over the years has been the tremendous growth of the county, most of it for the better. The rural element in Southern Maryland has helped to keep growth positive and to preserve the rural atmosphere so that people enjoy living here.”

As purchasing supervisor, she makes sure classrooms have their supplies, tech. ed. programs have their tools, and the athletes have their sports gear. She buys cafeteria supplies, custodial supplies, furniture, and equipment. She also handles accident reports.
For 20 years, she worked for H.G. Trueman Lumber Company in St. Leonard; at the beginning of her career, Zinn worked for the Navy.
When not making purchases for Calvert County schools, Zinn has stayed busy with a variety of community groups. Currently she serves as treasurer for the Calvert County 4-H All Star, associate member and corresponding secretary for the Calvert County Fair Board, treasurer for Miss Tranquility Pageant Committee, and spirit committee chair of the St. Leonard Vision Group. Past activities include serving on the Calvert County Board of Education and the Calvert County Planning Commission. Zinn is active in her church, Christ Episcopal Church, Port Republic.
Zinn began serving on SMECO’s Board of Directors in 2006, replacing Jack Williams, who retired after 47 years of service. “I cherish SMECO’s past because of my parents, who instilled in me the importance of the annual meeting; I look forward to addressing future challenges as a SMECO board member.”
