Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative (SMECO) recently donated a 1996 Ford E250 van to the Calvert County Rescue Dive Team. The Rescue Dive Team plans to use the van as a command and support unit. For water emergencies, the van will carry diving outfits, oxygen tanks, and other gear to the rescue sites. The team will outfit the van with a hitch for towing rescue vessels such as jet skis.
Founded in 1988, the all-volunteer Calvert County Rescue Dive team provides safe water rescue and recovery operations in Southern Maryland, including drills and real-life emergencies.
