Even Monthly Payment Plan
When it’s time for you to receive your
electric bill, do you wonder how much
you’re going to owe? With SMECO’s
Even Monthly Payment Plan (EMPP), you never
have to wonder - it’s smooth sailing
paying your electric bill! Why? Because
with the EMPP you know in advance how much
your monthly electric bill payment will be.
It’s easy to join the
EMPP
Just make your request in writing.
We’ve even provided an online
enrollment form for your convenience.
The EMPP is very
simple
Each month after your acceptance in the
EMPP, we bill you in even monthly payments.
Your settlement month is the one-year
anniversary month of your enrollment in the
program. If you have no outstanding
balance, you would be automatically
re-enrolled in the plan. If you have
overpaid, the difference will remain on
your account.
The good thing about the EMPP is that
you may request enrollment at any time,
provided that you meet the eligibility
requirements and make your request in
writing. You may also request that your
EMPP be terminated at any time.
Just take a few minutes to familiarize
yourself with the eligibility requirements
and plan details as listed in this on this
page. To apply for EMPP, please fill out the Even Monthly Payment
Plan Enrollment Form.
Eligibility
-
The customer must be billed under
SMECO’s
residential rates.
-
The customer’s account must be paid
in full at the time the EMPP payments
begin.
-
The electric bills at the
customer’s location must total $300
or more for the most recent 12
consecutive months.
- In the absence of a 12-month history
for the location, a customer may be
accepted on the EMPP when a reasonable
estimate can be made by SMECO.
Operation of the
EMPP
- Billings under the EMPP will begin the month following SMECO’s acceptance of the customer’s request..
- Monthly payments will be based on the customer’s expected billings for a year.
-
Settlement month occurs after the 12th billing installment. The account is reviewed and if difference between what is billed and what has been paid exists, the customer’s budget will be adjusted and the new amount will show on the next bill. At this time, the number of installments is reset, regardless of whether the customer’s EMPP amount is changed.
- You can request a review of your plan at any time.
- Periodic reviews and adjustments may also be done.
Termination of the
EMPP
-
A customer may request that the EMPP be
terminated at any time. However, any
credit balance will be applied to
future bills.
-
The EMPP will be terminated when the
customer requests disconnection of
electric service.
-
The EMPP may be terminated if the
customer fails to pay the full monthly
EMPP amount by the "Amount Due
After" date on the bill.
- Upon termination of the EMPP, any
debit balance will become due when the
customer receives the next regularly
scheduled monthly billing.
