Project Timeline

SMECO will begin construction only after the Maryland Public Service Commission (PSC) issues a Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (CPCN).  We plan to submit our application for that permit in October 2008 and anticipate the PSC to award it sometime in 2009.  Our project will take about six years to complete.

The timeline below outlines how the major elements of the project will develop once construction begins.

Once the CPCN is submitted, we will apply for permits, begin engineering plans, conduct environmental studies, and then start construction. The project should be completed by 2015.
